Visiting Local Breweries in Worcester, MA

Fri, Dec 02, 22  |  beer

Local Worcester BreweriesMassachusetts is a state full of quality craft beers, because some of the most well-known craft breweries are housed here, like Samuel Adams and Harpoon Brewery.

But sometimes a trek to Boston to taste beer isn’t necessary, because there are plenty of breweries throughout the entire state. Here is a list of some of the most popular breweries in and around Worcester.

Wormtown Brewery

Wormtown Brewery is located in the heart of Worcester, on 455 Park Ave. Their Master Brewer, Ben Roesch, is a Worcester native who discovered his love for craft beer during his time as an undergraduate at UMass Amherst. Wormtown is the only brewery that currently uses all Massachusetts grown ingredients in their beer. They don’t host regular tastings at the brewery, but they frequently attend local beer festivals and you can purchase their beer in local retail stores.

Rapscallion

Rapscallion hails from 195 Arnold Road in Fiskdale. Their beers are poured at a number of restaurants and pubs across Massachusetts. Rapscallion is opening its first ever restaurant this month in Acton, allowing guests the opportunity to sample their beer including small batches brewed on site.

Wachusett Brewing Company

Wachusett Brewing Company is located on 175 State Road East in Westminster. They are most well known for their Wachusett Blueberry Ale, which is frequently served with real blueberries in local bars across the state. Their brewery tour is free and provides a history of the brewery as well as beer samples. Click here for brewery tour hours.

Gardner Ale House

Gardner Ale House a brewpub and restaurant located on 74 Parker Street in Gardner. At least six of their house-brewed microbrews are on tap at their restaurant at all times. Their brews are constantly changing as they develop new recipes. They also offer brewery tours every Saturday at 1pm.

Berkshire Brewing Company

Berkshire Brewing Company is located in Western Massachusetts, on 12 Railroad Street in South Deerfield. BBC brews fresh, unpasteurized fine ales and lagers. Free brewery tours are available on Saturdays at 1:00pm, but their beers are only available in local retail stores.

As a beer fanatic, it’s important to know more about the beers being brewed around you. Now that you’re armed with this (definitely not complete!) list of local breweries, you can taste the local flavor for yourself.

If you’d rather just sample local beers in the comfort of your own home, then visit Julio’s Liquors in Westborough, MA, who have one of the biggest and best beer selections in the state. We carry many local microbrews, and the Wild Six Program allows you to mix your own six pack. When it comes to beer, we know our stuff!
